| Polar
has developed new software for its E Series heart rate
monitors with simplicity of use in mind and an understanding
that a teacher’s time is valuable. Polar’s
new software will provide physical educators with a powerful
tool to make organizing, downloading and reporting heart
rate data simple. The new software features individual
and class reports that turn heart rate data into useable
information for students, teachers and districts.
“This software is a breakthrough
for physical educators,” stated Beth Kirkpatrick,
Polar’s Director of Education. “For the
first time ever, technology and data can be used to
assess and objectively evaluate the effort portion of
a student’s grade.” For example, a teacher
now has the ability to rank students in a class by different
criteria, such as time spent in the targeted heart rate
zone, while also evaluating the total class data to
identify trends in fitness levels and performance. These
reports can help to evaluate different physical education
curricula and assist school districts that won the Carol
M. White Physical Education Program (PEP) federal grant
in meeting the grant’s reporting requirements.
The new software includes an easy to follow
set-up Wizard that walks through each installation step
and gives teachers the ability to import student information
from the school’s database. Teachers using Polar’s
E600 heart rate monitor will find that daily or weekly
downloading of student data is quick and easy. “What
use to take hours, will now only take minutes. Once
set-up, a teacher only has to download the data and
click save all.”
It’s that easy, explains Beth Kirkpatrick
because the unique AutoSort feature takes the downloaded
heart rate files and automatically sorts the data into
the correct student’s folder.
Designed with feedback from physical educators,
the new software’s backwards compatibility enables
teachers to take advantage of some new features even
if they are using some of Polar’s Accurex IIa
and Vantage XL heart rate monitors.
