Naperville High Schools, North and Central took delivery
of their first TriFIT 600's in August '98 and ten more since that time.
The Junior Highs and Elementary schools have the TriFIT 620's and TriFIT
Software. Coupled with full TriFIT 600 and 620 portable interactive assessment
systems, Naperville District 203 also purchased a number of TriFIT Companions
which are hand held computers that teachers use to enter in assessment
data while in the field and then download to the TriFIT system for subsequent
reports.
Assessments performed by the freshmen are height, weight, push-ups, curl-ups,
mile run, modified sit & reach and body composition. The students
are assigned to take the results from their assessments and create their
own programs on how to improve and maintain healthy lifestyles. Dave Bucher
at Naperville North H.S. says they are training their seniors to assess
the other students.
Naperville High Schools give each student two assessments per year and
has a portfolio for each student with his/her assessment results in grades
9 through 12. Naperville District 203 has begun integrating the TriFIT
systems into their middle schools and their elementary schools which student
portfolios reflect all assessments from grades K through 12.
Naperville Central and North H.S.'s have also networked the TriFIT software
in computer labs so students can create their own fitness and nutrition
plan in thier Health classes.
Upper classmen who have experimented with the system as well as parents
are amazed not only by the information reported from the TriFIT System
but the capabilities as well.
The Physical Education staff is busy exploring all the capabilities the
TriFIT system provides for feedback to students. Coaches are looking for
training programs for their athletes which are also included in the TriFIT
software.
The TriFIT system has truly moved the Physical Education
staff into the next century.
