Healthy Heart Unit
Directions: Each student will be wearing a Polar heart rate monitor and a pedometer.
- Each student will need to find a partner
- The teacher will need to put up the posters for the Fitness Basketball activity
- After each activity each student will record their heart rate on the Fitness Basketball Sheet.
- At the end of the time each student will stop their heart rate monitor (Polar E200) by pushing the blue button. They will record their heart rate and pedometer steps on the fitness basketball sheet.
- The students will then bring their sheet to their teacher and they will record:
- Finishing Time
- Time in Target Zone
- If you want to grade this activity ( Divide the finishing time by time in zone)
- Another way to do this is to have the students record their heart rates at the end of each poster. At the end of the activity the teacher will lead a discussion about the students’ heart rates while doing different activities.
