Heart Rate Monitor Lesson Plan

LESSON TITLE: Heart Recovery Lesson
GRADE LEVEL: Secondary
 

Objective: Students will learn one method of testing aerobic activity for heart recovery. (Aerobic fitness indicates the heart’s ability to recover from exercise and is a sign of fitness.)

Procedure:

  1. Students will put heart monitor on and receive a handout for the activity.
  2. Working independently, students will record their heart rate after each activity.
  3. Students will record their heart rate on the graph paper.
  4. Discussion on heart rate recovery will follow the completion of the graphing.
  • There should be a cool down activity after the lesson.
  • Instructor should look for or be aware of any safety issues in the gym.
  • Students should be given their own personal space for this activity.
